I wanted to take a moment to share a few updates about Tar Heel Radio!

First off, I’d like to apologize for the lack of recent updates. Life has been incredibly busy, and unfortunately, the station fell a bit to the side during that time. Thank you all for your patience and understanding!

About the Sub-Stations:
After some consideration, I’ve made the decision to discontinue the five Tar Heel Radio sub-stations. Managing a single station alone has proven challenging, and expanding to multiple stations simply wasn’t sustainable at this time. Those additional stations have been taken offline so I can focus on making the main Tar Heel Radio experience the best it can be.

What’s Next for Tar Heel Radio:
I’m currently adding fresh music to the rotation and reviewing the station’s overall programming to give it a new, revitalized sound. Some rotations may be replaced or updated soon as I continue refining the lineup.

I’m also working on updating the website, which includes restoring the Song Request feature and giving the site a refreshed design. Please bear with me if certain features aren’t working temporarily — they’ll be back soon! The same goes for the Tar Heel Radio mobile app for iOS, which is also being updated to improve performance and usability.

Regarding Emergency Alerts:
For those interested in our EAS relay system — the station currently uses a Sage ENDEC 1822, which has been experiencing a few issues. I’m in the process of saving up for an upgrade, either a used Sage Digital ENDEC or a new entry-level DASDEC-III. Until then, alert relays may be a bit less reliable than usual, but I’m doing everything I can to restore full functionality.
